For over 20 years, New Leaf Greenhouse has been helping schools, churches, and other non-profit organizations meet their financial goals each year with our poinsettia sale. We take pride in offering some of the most beautiful poinsettia plants available at great prices, so your supporters get great value and your organization makes money, too. For specific pricing information and forms, please contact Sally, our helpful fundraiser coordinator. Her email address is sally@newleafgreenhouse.com, or you can call our office at 503-844-6400 and ask for her.
Please note that we can only work with organizations in Northwestern Oregon or Southwestern Washington. If you're outside of our service area, we're sorry we won't be able to help, and we wish you good luck in finding a similar program in your region.
We offer two plant sizes, one in a 6” pot and one in an 8” pot, and three different colors, including deep Christmas red, a rich, pretty pink, and a beautiful ivory white. We deliver the poinsettias to your organization on a date of your choice. All plants are slipped into a complimentary color liner to make them even prettier, and to keep indoor surfaces tidy.
The poinsettia originates in Mexico, where it’s a long-lived shrub that can grow to 10 feet tall! It has long been known as the Christmas flower there, and legend has it that a poor child prayed for a gift to present to the Christ Child, and watched in wonder as a poinsettia sprang up at the foot of the altar. In America, too, they’ve become a traditional holiday symbol, and are the best selling potted plant in the country.
Although poinsettias are perennial in their native habitat, it’s difficult to get them to prosper as a permanent houseplant, so it’s best to enjoy them for the holiday season, and then dispose of them. You can keep them looking beautiful longer, though, if you place them where they can get at least 6 hours of indirect sunlight each day, and make sure they aren’t exposed to temperatures below 50 degrees. Generally, they prefer temperatures of 68 to 70 degrees. They also need regular watering, though you should let the soil get dry to the touch before each watering. Avoid soggy roots, and never let the plant sit in standing water.
If you have a green thumb, you may wish to try getting your poinsettia to rebloom. Here’s a good how-to guide on this subject:
