Each sampler flat will contain two plants each of the 8 varieties listed below. A half flat will include 1 of each variety. We grew over 24 varieties of heirloom tomatoes last summer, and these are our favorites!

Black Prince bears incredibly tasty, medium-sized, red-brown fruits with greenish shoulder. It's one of the best of the delicious Russian strains - very productive, with consistently crack-free, beautiful fruits. We had good harvests from June to October!

Many chefs hold that the San Marzano, an Italian Heirloom, is the world's greatest saucing tomato. It has thick walls, few seeds, and rich tomato flavor. Also, it's determinate, meaning that its fruits tend to ripen around the same time, which is convenient for processing.
Valencia produces large, gorgeous deep yellow fruits, and they taste even better than they look. They flavor is a beautiful balance of sweet of acid, and the texture is absolutely luscious. This variety would be a clear standout in any heirloom tomato taste test. The Brandywine is perhaps the most famous of the heirloom tomatoes, and with good reason. Its huge, deep pink fruits have tremendous flavor and a marvelous, meaty texture that makes then ideal for sandwiches. They’re also very productive with proper care.

This black cherry tomato variety combines the sweetness a typical cherry with the deep, delicious flavors of the black tomato clan. Their color is striking, and, like all cherry tomatoes, they will grow rapidly and bear fruit all summer long.

The aptly named Green Zebra bears green fruits with striking yellow stripes. They’re small to medium in size, and have a bright, delightful flavor with notes of citrus. You can tell when they’re ripe because they get a bit softer and they go from green to yellow and green.

Cherokee Purple bears magnificent, massive fruits with deep purplish flesh and green shoulders. Its flavor and texture are unique and outstanding, and it’s interesting historically, too, since it’s said the Cherokee Indians grew it. Although there are hundreds of varieties of heirloom tomatoes out there, this variety shines.

Japanese Black Trifele is is a real eye-catcher. Its medium-sized fruits resemble beautiful bartlett bears with mahogany skin and greenish shoulders. It will bear abundantly all summer, and looks very elegant sliced on a plate. Delicious, too!

In the event that we need to make a substitution for one of the above varieties, we will send a plant of equal or greater value.
